Sussex Police have used BBC1's Crimewatch programme to try and uncover more clues and information about a rape that took place on Brighton beach in September 2012.
A 19-year-old woman from Kent was raped by two men on the beach near the bottom of West Street in the early hours of Friday 7th September 2012 after leaving a nightclub. A third man watched the rape.
Police used the BBC1 programme to show CCTV footage of a man who went into the same nightclub at about 22:30 and then leave the club to walk up West Street and into Duke Street in the early hours of September 7th,within 20 minutes of the attack taking place.
The programme also included an interview with the victim, whose identity has been protected.
Detective Inspector Ian Still from Brighton and Hove CID, who appeared on Crimewatch and is leading the investigation said: "We are turning to the national audience to help identify the man featured in the CCTV who was close to the area of the attack and within about 20 minutes of it taking place. We need to talk to him in order to eliminate him from our enquiries."
The man seen on the CCTV footage is the Police's second suspect and police have yet to identify him to eliminate him from their investigations.
Last year, a 28-year-old was arrested on suspicion of rape and was bailed pending further inquiries. Last October two other men were also arrested but were released with no further action to be taken against them.
Detective Inspector Ian Still added: "There have been no further linked attacks in Brighton and that is why I feel it is important to broaden our appeal to enable us to gain the widest possible coverage of this attack, seek further witnesses and bring the offender to justice.
"If you have any information that could help us find who is responsible for this attack then please call Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Harvard or alternatively you can leave an anonymous message with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. "
